INTRODUCTIONChers collègues, For the past seven years, Le Français en Ecosse has been involved in the training of primary school teachers in many Local Authorities as part of the MLPS / MFL in Primary Schools Programme. Over the past years we have travelled throughout most of Scotland and organised training sessions from the Shetland Islands to the Scottish Borders and from the Isle of Islay back to the City of Edinburgh. We have been running Immersion Courses in France in both Lyon and Salignac. This year 160 primary teachers from all over the UK and the Republic of Ireland have attended our courses, benefiting from funding support from the British Council through Comenius 2.2. Teachers from central Europe, Germany and Spain also participated in our courses and we are hoping to welcome participants from other European countries in years to come. We are also involved in Secondary Education. We are been running seminars for secondary teachers in Scotland, conferences for higher/advanced higher students and we have recently created a new courses in Lyon and Salignac where secondary teachers benefit from a Comenius 2.2 grant. All of our tutors are qualified French native speakers with experience in MFL teaching at all levels, including several MLPS-trained tutors and one CILT-approved tutor.
