Teacher Training

For the past five years, Le Français en Ecosse has been involved in the training of Primary School Teachers in Scotland as part of the MLPS programme put into place by the Scottish Executive.

We have also been running immersion courses in France both in Lyon and Salignac. In 2004, 100 Primary teachers from all over the UK attended our courses. Eligible primary and secondary teachers will get Funding support from COMENIUS 2.2 which will fully cover their course fee, subsistence and accommodation, as well as travel expenses for up to 545 Euros.

We are now involved in secondary education with seminars organised for secondary teachers and conferences for higher/advanced higher students.

All our tutors are qualified native speakers, with experience in MFL teaching at all levels. Some of the following courses can be organised throughout the U.K. and Ireland.

Refresher Courses for Primary teachers

The courses present creative ideas to help teachers integrate MFL into best primary practice. The focus is primarily on language improvement and practical methodology. We cover all 4 skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing- in line with the new national guidelines.

Twilight Courses in Edinburgh for Primary teachers

We are now offering weekly conversation classes in our Stockbridge centre throughout the year. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to keep your French up to date and exchange new classroom ideas with your colleagues. These courses will count towards CPD.

Seminars for secondary school teachers

The courses focus primarily on French culture and current affairs. Teachers also develop their discursive skills, update their vocabulary and gain new ideas and materials for use in the classroom.

Higher/Advanced Higher/A level Conferences

The courses will provide participants with renewed enthusiasm for foreign languages, through original and fun activities. Pupils will also improve and update their French language skills and develop cultural awareness and understanding of contemporary Europe.

Immersion courses in the UK

All our programmes can be developed over two/three days with the same group. Evening activities can also be organised.

Immersion courses in France for Primary and Secondary school teachers

These courses are now open to teachers from all over the UK and Europe. Funding support from COMENIUS 2.2 may be available through the British Council or your own Socrates national agency. For guidelines on how to fill Comenius application form, click on:
